‘I’m sorry to have to tell you this but you are a type 2 diabetic and here is a prescription for the medications you have to take.’

How would you react to that statement from your doctor?

Yes, you may have been feeling sluggish, tired, stressed and a bit irritable but you really didn’t expect that outcome. What does a statement like that do to your mind? Your body is already having problems to overcome. Where will you find the motivation to take control?

What difference would it make to you and your close family/friends if your motivation was ‘up’ and your stress levels were lower?

I overheard a lady say ‘diabetes is stealing my happiness’. It can be tough to cope with sometimes. You feel denial, anger, frustration ‘why me’? Type 2 diabetes is a condition that can be controlled through diet and exercise and reducing stress. High stress can have a negative effect on blood glucose levels … I could go on but your doctor or diabetes nurse will help you with that.

How can hypnotherapy help with diabetes?

You may have type 1 diabetes.  This is usually from birth or a young age and is outside of your control.  You may have type 2 diabetes which can be controlled by lifestyle changes.  Hypnotherapy is one of those helpful changes.  It helps you to cope with those fluctuations of mood, low energy, self doubt, ‘why me?’ issues.  All these nest under the umbrella of stress, anxiety or fear.

If you are concerned that you are developing type 2 hypnotherapy can help you

  • Take control of the emotional roller coaster whilst juggling all the balls in the air.
  • Enable you to make good lifestyle choices around food and exercise
  • Enable you to have a better relationship with sleep.

I’ve had the privilege to work with GPs in the past as an exercise specialist.  Diabetes was among some of the areas I covered. It’s amazing to see how clients grasped the positive thought processes/emotions around the condition that was holding them back. They left behind the heavy coat of stress, anger, frustration, grief and sadness.

Ready to make the change for a calmer, more focused and positive reality?

I can help you with small yet significant ways of thinking about this condition with hypnotherapy. Once the subconscious mind starts to relax the change starts to happen.
